Today’s modern world allows access to children of all ages to mobile devices. Schools now more than ever face challenges around Internet-awareness and safety. Parents, Teachers, and Principals have a responsibility both ethically and legally to understand and guide children and students in their charge with respect to Internet usage and individual school policies.

WHAT IS AN ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY (AUP)?

An AUP is a document which governs students’ use of the internet inside and outside of school.  It states the rights, responsibilities and privileges – as well as sanctions surrounding computer use. A school will generally has a unique policy document, which is generated by teachers in conjunction with management.  The students and parents may also be consulted during this process to capture and incorporate their concerns and wishes.
